How Do Essential Oil Diffusers Work?

Oil diffusers are a great way to enjoy the benefits of essential oils in your home. Add water and EOs or fragrance oils into the diffuser, turn it on - voila! You can now inhale a deep breath while relaxing with scents that soothe nerves or sharpen your senses depending on what you need at any given time. Most importantly, these gems help purify the air since they emit such pleasant smells all day long without ever getting old (or overwhelming).

1. Place your diffuser where you'd like to position it in your room.

Oil diffusers will emit a fine spray of water to diffuse the oils throughout your space. To ensure the oil is evenly dispersed throughout the area, position your diffuser in the middle of your selected room. Please keep it on a level surface to avoid things from pouring or tumbling while your diffuser is operating.

2. Lift the lid vertically off your diffuser.

The top casing of most diffusers may be removed to reveal the water reservoir, however this varies somewhat depending on the type. To open your diffuser and get access to the internal water tank, try turning it, popping it, or even just lifting it off.

3. Use room temperature water to fill the diffuser.

Use the provided measuring cup or a glass and fill with room temperature water. Carefully pour the water into the reservoir or internal tank of your diffuser. Check for a line or marking on the inside of the tank to indicate how much water is required.

4. Add 3-5 drops of essential oils or fragrance oils to your diffuser.

Remove the cap of your chosen fragrance and tilt it over the diffuser with the lid removed. Shake gently to disperse 3-5 drops. We always recommend starting with 3-5 drops to ensure you don't have an overpowering aroma. If you'd like a more potent aroma, add a couple of extra drops the following day until you find your desired smell. Fragrance oils are much more powerful than essential oils so you will need fewer drops. Start with less and increase the number of drops until you find the smell that suits your personal preference.

5. Replace the lid to close the diffuser and turn it on at the wall socket.

Turn the diffuser on at the wall and use the "mist" button on the front of the unit to start diffusing oils.

Multiple settings or lights may be available on some diffusers to customize its operation. If you're not sure how to turn your diffuser on, consult the manufacturer's instructions.
